# Are there fees for using Grapevine?

Grapevine does not charge platform fees for online donations made on Grapevine (via Credit/Debit Card or Bank Transfer). The only fees incurred are standard payment processing fees, which go directly to our payment partners to handle transactions. These include:

- Credit and Debit cards via Stripe: 2.2% + $0.30 (3.5% for AmEx; +1.5% for non-US cards).
  
  *Note: If your card is issued outside the US, your bank may apply its own currency conversion or foreign transaction fee. That's set by your card issuer, not by Grapevine.*

- Bank transfers via Plaid: 0.8% up to $5 for bank transfers.
- For example, if you wish to make a net donation of $100 to a nonprofit using a standard credit card, the total charged to your card would be approximately $102.56. This covers the processing fees, ensuring the nonprofit receives the full $100 you intended.
  
  ***Calculation:** ($100 desired net donation + $0.30 fixed fee) / (1 - 0.022 percentage fee) = $100.30 / 0.978 = ~$102.56)*

 Meanwhile, for **off-platform donations such as checks, Donor Advised Fund grants, wire transfers, and ACH payments**, Grapevine charges a **3% platform fee**, which helps cover the administrative costs associated with handling these manual transactions.
